The Challenge

CareCo started life selling mobility scooters and reclining chairs as a small operation. Over the years, the business grew rapidly, with the development and release of its own products, and now is one of the leading suppliers of mobility equipment in the UK.

With business showing no signs of slowing down, CareCo moved to a modern new head office in Brentwood, Essex, featuring a 50,000 square foot warehouse. The team at Chapelwood Joinery were tasked with creating modern interior features that would make CareCo’s new offices feel like home.

The Solution

Following a thorough ideation and briefing process, Chapelwood discussed at length options of materials with their client. With CareCo focussing on their environmental impact, sustainability was high on the agenda, as well as having a modern aesthetic. Chapelwood Joinery approached UK Bamboo Supplies and was swiftly sent samples of bamboo boards, free of charge.

With Chapelwood’s expertise in delivering beautiful interior and exterior hand-made joinery for the country’s top luxury brands like Bentley and Barbour, the bamboo caught the team’s eye for detail and plans were finalised to use bamboo as the material of choice.

Over the course of the project, over 50 8ft x 4ft bamboo boards were used of varying thicknesses. The bamboo materials were all delivered by a dedicated delivery service, providing peace of mind for the client. The side-pressed 19mm Bamboo Boards were expertly cut into thin lengths by Chapelwood and used in contrasting arrangements to create a brand-name feature wall spanning both floors. The 40mm Bamboo Boards were used to create accents on the giant plant pots and also on the stairs to continue the bamboo theme and design language of modern materials.

Chapelwood’s clients were thrilled with the end result, as were the team at UK Bamboo Supplies, with this project providing a shining example of what can be achieved with bamboo and expert joinery skills.
